HABC Hosts a PreparAthon Event for Resident Leaders

In recognition of Emergency Preparedness Month, the Housing Authority of Baltimore City’s (HABC) Office of Resident Services collaborated with the Baltimore City Health Department, the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, and the Day at the Market Program to host a PrepareAthon event on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Pleasant View Gardens. The HABC Resident Advisory Board (RAB) and other public housing community leaders learned what measures they need to take to prepare for and reduce the effects of disasters.

Attendees received a community preparedness toolkit that includes useful resources to make their communities safer for individuals, families and those who are elderly or disabled. Several vendors and speakers were on hand to discuss topics related to disaster preparedness for metropolitan cities.

The event supports HABC’s goals, known as the 4Cs of HABC – Communication, Community, Customer Service and Collaboration. To learn more about HABC, visit habc.baltimorehousing.org.
