HUD to provide Bonus points on NOFA’s for Sustainable Communities

On November 21, 2011 a regional consortium that included Baltimore City was awarded funding under
HUD’s Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant through a NOFA response submitted by the
Baltimore Metropolitan Council (BMC). This grant supports metropolitan and multijurisdictional
planning efforts that integrate housing, land use, economic and workforce development,
transportation, and infrastructure investments.

One of the benefits of becoming a Sustainable Community is the ability to receive Preferred Sustainability Status (the “PSS”), which may result in bonus points for certain Notice of Funding Availability (the “NOFA”) made available by HUD.

PSS is provided through the Baltimore Metropolitan Council (the “BMC). Organizations interested in learning whether they qualify for Preferred Sustainability Status are encouraged to consult the BMC’s website:
