Homebuying Incentives

There are several financial home buying incentives that can make purchasing your home in Baltimore City more affordable.

Good Neighbors Program - $5,000 grant

Baltimore City wants to assist teachers, firefighters and police officers purchase homes. The Good Neighbors Homebuying Incentive program will assist "Vacants to Value" homebuyers with a $5000 award toward to your downpayment and closing costs. To learn more or apply, please call 410.396.3124.

Community Development Block Grant's Homeownership Program - $5,000 grant

The Baltimore City Office of Homeownership's CDBG Homeownership program is designed to assist first time homebuyers. The program can give qualified first time homebuyers $5,000 toward downpayment and settlement expenses. The funding source for the CDBG program have 80% median income limitations. Settlement Expense Grant - $5,000 loan

The Downpayment Settlement Expense Loan Program (DSELP) provides 0 percent deferred second mortgage loans to eligible homebuyers to cover settlement expenses when applicants use a CDA Maryland Mortgage Program. Please see the State's Web site at www.dhcd.state.md.us for more program details.

Buying Into Baltimore Program - $5,000 grant

The Buying Into Baltimore: Neighborhood Tours program is a partnership venture with the City of Baltimore and the Live Baltimore Home Center. Neighborhood tours are scheduled in the Spring and Fall of each year, highlighting the neighborhoods. The first 50 homebuyers that attend the trolley tour and execute a sales contract within 90 days of the fair are eligible to receive a $3,000 award toward closing costs. Persons who purchase a MCC-owned property will receive an additional $1,000. To learn more about this program, Click here.

Live Near Your Work Program - up to $6,000 grant
