CLARIFICATION STATEMENT TO THE SUMMER 2010 NOFA

Baltimore Housing, a collaboration between the Baltimore City Department of Housing and Community Development and the Housing Authority of Baltimore City (HABC), is pleased to announce the Summer 2010 NOFA funding round for housing and community development projects.

This is to clarify a question raised at the July 19th meeting regarding Baltimore Housing's Summer 2010 Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for HOME funds and Letters of Support for the State of Maryland's October Low Income Housing Tax Credit Round.

Under the NOFA, applicants receiving support for the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Round must set aside 15% of the Tax Credit units for non-elderly residents with disabilities. These units must be supported by project-based housing choice vouchers.

A question arose as to whether an application for the project based vouchers was required along with the application for Low Income Housing Tax Credit support.

An application for project based vouchers is not required at the same time as the application for Low Income Housing Tax Credit support. The project based voucher application should be submitted only if the project receives support from Baltimore Housing. In such cases, it should be submitted prior to any application to the State for Low Income Housing Tax Credits.
