The National Association of Realtors is out with new figures showing that first time home buyers -- a group critical to a housing recovery -- made up just 32 percent of sales in June. That's down from 34 percent in May. In healthy markets, first time buyers make up more than 40 percent of the market. But here in Baltimore, lawmakers celebrated positive housing news as they gathered around a first-time homebuyer. WYPR's Mary Rose Madden has more.
